The annual 76th British Film Academy Awards, held on Sunday, 19th February, saw many loved celebrities grace the red carpet. The BAFTAs took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The long-awaited event hosted by Richard E. Grant saw celebrities like Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Dolly DeLeon, Colin Farrell, etc., standing in solidarity with refugees by incorporating a UNHCR blue ribbon in their outfits. The ceremony began with BAFTA Chair Krishnendu Majumdar paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Helen Mirren, the actress who played the role of Queen Elizabeth in “The Queen” also paid a two-minute tribute to the late monarch. 

With a whopping seven wins, “All Quiet on the Western Front” dominated the award ceremony, followed closely by “The Banshees of Inisherin,” with the second-highest number of awards. Cate Blanchett took home the Best Leading Actress award for her performance in Tár, while Austin Butler won the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Elvis. The ceremony was nothing short of a star-studded affair as celebrities brought their A-game to the red-carpet outfits.

  • Kate Middleton

The Princess of Wales made an appearance at the BAFTAs 2023 with her husband Prince William. It was the royal couple’s first appearance at the event since Covid. Kate Middleton took to the red carpet in a flowy, white one-shoulder gown paired with black opera gloves and gold AquazzuraFeniz pumps. Setting an example of sustainable clothing, Kate re-wore the Alexander McQueen dress she had donned in the 2019 BAFTAs with slight alterations. The floral petals on the left shoulder were removed and draped fabric was added, giving it a more dimensional look. She kept the look minimalistic, accessorizing with a pair of ‘cascading flower’ style Zara earrings and a Celeste Jimmy Choo bag.

  • Florence Pugh

Donning a statement gown by Nina Ricci, Florence Pugh brought spring-summer vibes to the BAFTAs. Pulling off a look many wouldn’t be able to, the “Don’t Worry Darling” actress looked stunning in an asymmetrical orange mermaid-style gown. Matching the ruffles of her dress’s neckline, the actress tied her hair, creating a crown effect. Florence paired the outfit with Tiffany & Co. diamond rings and hoop earrings.

  • Michelle Yeoh

The ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once actress looked chic in a rose-gold Christian Dior suit from the fall-winter 2018 couture. The slit cape sleeves added uniqueness to the whole outfit. The 60-year-old actress accessorized with Moussaieff high jewelry— a Burma sapphire ring, pink diamond and sapphire bangle, and Burma ruby and diamond earrings. Keeping the fit comfortable but classy, Michelle Yeoh opted to wear gold peep-toe heels.

  • Cate Blanchett

The BAFTAs 2023 saw Cate Blanchett re-wearing her black Maison Margiela gown with Louis Vuitton jewelry to amp up the outfit. The actress had previously worn the dress for the 2015 Oscars. She styled the floor-length gown with pearl Louis Vuitton earrings and a necklace, part of which extended to her left shoulder. Cate Blanchett won the Best Leading Actress award for her role in Tár.

  • Anya Taylor-Joy

Undoubtedly one of the best outfits of the night, Anya Taylor-Joy looked radiant in a metallic champagne-colored mini dress by Schiaparelli. The dress is fresh from the label’s Spring 2023 couture collection. All eyes were on Anya as she walked on the red carpet with a floor-length cloak wrapped around her head. She let the dress shine with minimal but complimentary makeup, gold strapped Aquazzura heels and a curved motif gold necklace from Tiffany & Co.

  • Jodie Turner-Smith

The British actress took ‘make a statement’ quite literally as she wowed onlookers with her eccentric lavender Gucci gown. The dress complimented the actress’s skin tone perfectly. The bodice of the dress consisted of detailed sequins, while the sleeves and skirt had purple feather details. The 36-year-old actress did not just stop there. She elevated the dress with her flawless make-up look, done by her make-up artist Joey Choy. Sporting a winged eyeliner with purple eye shadow, the actress went full glam as she speckled Swarovski crystals as freckles on her face. She accessorized the dress with heart-shaped blue sapphires, and diamond necklace from Chopard, and matching earrings.

  • Julianne Moore

Exuding elegance, Julianne Moore wore a floor-length black Saint Laurent dress designed by Anthony Vaccarello. The black dress with a sweetheart neckline and feathery white shrug complimented her red hair perfectly. The Oscar-winning actress added a bit of bling to her outfit with an emerald and diamond Serpenti necklace and stud earrings from the luxurious brand Bulgari. To complete her look, the actress wore black peep-toe platform heels.

  • Cynthia Erivo

Wearing custom Louis Vuitton, Cynthia Erivo looked like a Goddess walking on the red carpet. The metallic bronze/copper gown left a lasting impression on everyone at the event. The halterneck gown covered in rectangular sequins had a long train and statement asymmetric shoulder cut. The actress styled her dress with platinum and gold Tiffany & Co. earrings, Elsa Peretti gold bangles, a Petite Malle sequinned gold bag, and gold-colored heels. Cynthia Erivo’s makeup was as bold as her dress, with dark brown lipstick and metallic tone smokey eyeshadow.

  • Hoyeon Jung

The “Squid Game” took being classy to a whole new level by wearing a gold/ bronze Louis Vuitton ballgown designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Hoyeon let the dress shine with a clean, sleek bun hairdo, red lips, and a diamond necklace. With a curved neckline, fitted bodice, and flared skirt made of embroidered metallic sequins that sparkled when the light hit them, Hoyeon looked like the perfect embodiment of a princess.

  •  Lily James

Lily James’s looked ethereal in a Tamara Ralph gown from the fashion label’s first haute couture collection. The floor-length white gown featured a fitted bodice with a bow and long train. The best part about the dress was the dramatic pearl cage bodice that covered a V-neckline. The actress kept her makeup look simple with minimal accessories. She wore Bulgari earrings and a ring, completing the look with heels from Jimmy Choo.
